Why join the Mugello Marathon?
There are many reasons to do so. One could be that the Mugello Marathon is the oldest marathon in Italy. In the early 70s There were no marathons yet. In those years, the only existing marathons were organized for the selection for the Olympic Games. They were races restricted to a few tens of athletes. In 1974 a group of keen runners of Borgo san Lorenzo lead by Franco Sargenti and Roberto Gherardi later assisted by Mario Boretti planned the first marathon in Italy called “Prima Maratona del Mugello” (First Mugello Marathon).
Another reason to join the Mugello Marathon is its setting.
